If they want to act like publishers, they're going to have to be treated like publishers. Specific regulations exists for this but are in need of an update. The Safe Harbor provision of the Communications Decency Act section 230 needs to be changed. A company receiving immunity and protection from liability under CDA sec 230 should be made to adhere to the 1st Amendment as if they were a government entity. If they act as a publisher exercising editorial control, they need to face liability just as if they were a traditional news outlet.
