  2. The left is easier to understand when you consider that they think of everything as a hierarchy. Science is not a process to them. It's a hierarchy where the people with the most authority determine what's scientific. Following these people is safe, even if they're wrong, because after all they're at the top of the hierarchy which absolves you of any responsibility.
