I was raised with the idea that relationships shouldn't be transactional. And credit where credit is due, my mother outearned my father by a lot throughout their careers and stuck with him for better and for worse. So the moment I get the faintest idea that a woman is seizing me up for my income or status, I'm out. I should probably thank my parents for the impossible high bar they let me set to relationships. I'll never find something like they did, and I'm okay with that.
