  1. It works in the Bourne trilogy because the trilogy isn't about martial arts and action. The movie tries to convey frantic desperation rather than show off some action guy beating people to a pulp. Bourne improvises his way through chaos, but he doesn't try to control it, he only needs to get away from it. When action movies then try to replicate the chaos while at the same time putting the emphasis on the action itself they compromise both.
