  1. Love it. But his answer to UBI completely clashes with everything he had said up to that point. If you find inadequate government workers collecting salaries for doing little work unacceptable, then you are conceding that the current welfare system is not a cost-effective way for dealing with poverty. Between every recipient and the government are layers of social workers taking a cut out of money that could easily have be sent straight to the recipient in the form of a basic income. That's the whole point of UBI, it's the libertarian answer to big government solutions. It's harnessing the free market to provide for poor people (who now have a disposable income) without any interference from the state (other than distributing that baseline). It's not an expansion of the welfare state, it's a reduction of the welfare state.
