Surely the need for platforms to appease advertisers and be able to provide for their employees are the least interesting stakes for a user? Understanding the need for a profitable product is one thing, but none of that needs to be included in your own preferences for the way you'd like to see the platform take shape. Profitability is Twitter's problem, not yours. It's not a genuine argument for anyone other than Elon himself. And speaking of Elon. It's spectacular what he's doing. It's like pulling away a pavement tile and exposing the ant colony underneath. So many sneaky interests working behind the scenes to steer this so coveted discourse. So many bad actors, so much political leverage. You don't have to participate in it, but also try not to look away from what will happen next.
