I tend to agree in general, it's just a hard sell right when Dune Part Two blows most other large movies out of the water (let's ignore Godzilla x Kong for now). Dune Part Two is steeped in ideology, and it offers plenty of girlbosses of course. Some people call Chani's boosted role woke, which is fine and valid. But it's a stretch to call the movie itself woke propaganda when at its core it's about a young man beating an ancient cabal of women. Its success shows that a movie can include all kinds of modern attitudes, distort original material, and still leave both sides of the political divide satisfied and eager for more. Maybe it's an outlier, but I hope Hollywood got the message this time.

Birthrates would be an interesting topic to dig into. On Wikipedia 'List of countries by total fertility rate' it shows 102 countries above replacement rate. Only one OECD country amongst them with the rest being the poorest nations on the planet. All the other countries, especially the developed nations, are way below replacement. Below replacement doesn't mean a smaller population, it means a population that's headed for zero unless women start having more children again. The implications are huge because it seems that the very things we value about living in a developed nation, for instance women having agency over their own lives over their own bodies, are the thing that causes these values to terminate themselves and be outcompeted by populations that are hostile to these ideas, not by war and conflict, but purely by sexual competition.
