As someone who had someone cheat on their partner with me, I can say that to her it felt like she lost freedom and autonomy in her relationship. She wasn't more attracted to me than to her boyfriend, in fact they're still together after years, it's just that I was an outlet, an escape from feeling suffocated. It doesn't justify cheating at all, but it does tell you that it's not all about sexual competition either, there's other desires at play than just ranking partners against each other.
