  3. Just because the Onion does satire doesn't mean they sometimes hit the nail right on the head. LIFX raised $130k for a collapsible carboard box that even six months after their projected deadline they still have failed to produce. Nobody accounts for the money that is collected through this site. Hell, even the pledges aren't legally binding contracts. They can just take your money and they're not in any way obliged to actually present something for it in return.

  4. Yeah no shit, you can charge anyone with fraud. But that doesn't mean the charge will ever hold. If you pay someone $50 to build his idea then you've done exactly that, giving him money to build a product, you haven't actually bought the product. So suppose his business fails (due to the excessive business parties with coke and hookers) then he's still free to go.
