You guys are overplaying the radiation and downplaying the effects of stratospheric aerosols.This explosion would turn the Earth into a snowball and freeze everyone to death before they get to die of radiation sickness. Then with your second, biggest explosion you bring it up but that's the point where the aerosols are redundant due to the damage that preceded it. This sounds really anal but the point here is that even a small, local nuclear exchange is enough to ruin our crop harvests and start a global famine.
