Our livestock industry creates such a massive amount of extended misery for such a large amount of sentient beings who would really wish to live their life in another way than being stuck in this industrial hellscape. Without humans, that would end, nature would still be brutal, but it would be swift and merciful rather than slow and tedious.

  2. There's a lapse in logic here though. There could be several, uniquely different filters ahead of us. That we passed one or even a few big filters doesn't mean we're in the clear and won't meet several other filters. Maybe a fulls scale nuclear war could be a first filter, a runaway greenhouse effect the second, runaway AI or the invention of a blackhole (or any unknown unknown) could be the third. Maybe every other civilisation ran into the first two and never got to what's behind door three and four even though three and four would've completely obliterated them as well.
