@thenegotiator8414 tranq isn't like TV they take a while to set in. When a gorilla is half drugged out it's at it's most dangerous. See how the gorilla dragged the kid? Not the most delicate was he? The gorilla could have easily hurt or killed the child by mistake.

It takes quite a while and makes them loopy. Most animals have a small panic before they go down. It would have made him dangerous for around 30 minutes before going down.

That would have definitely killed the child. This isn't the movies, they don't just drop. It could take quite a while and most animals panic under the influence of the drugs.

Because it's not the movies. They take a while to kick in and make the animal loopy and confused. It would have made the situation much more dangerous.

It's not like the movies. It takes quite a while and half lucid drugged up animals are at their most dangerous before they pass out. That would have only made harambee more dangerous.

You can't be certain harambee wouldn't have killed. The zoo however was certain they'd rather be known for a dead gorilla then a dead child.
