 @Appletank8 the Rheinmetall Rh-120 will replace both Challenger2 and M1 Abrams main guns. Everyone wants a Rh-120 to do the shooting.

A similar engine is used in a lot of heavy machinery and some trains. Engine isn't too special.

@Axzuel7878 With slight form fitting modifications the exact same generator is used in a lot of commercial products. All the Honeywell gas turbines. All this information was easy to find on the wik I until a bot edited the page. A lot of that has been going on since febuary 2022 🤔

@Axzuel7878 It's a Textron TF15 except with a recupirator and 2 stage air compressor. There is a special high RPM idle mode, but I don't spend enough time on war thunder or discord to have any leaked information about that feature 😅 The TF15 was discontinued like 2012. Used in trains, generators, trucks, tractors, heavy machinery. Thing is a heck of an engine but it's been around for like 60 years. So not quite exactly. I should have said the agt 1500 is the same as a commercial engine with 2 extra features, one of which is used on similar commercial turboshaft engines.

@Axzuel7878 from what I know it essentially boils down to cost and time. The army spent a lot of time and money trying to make the best tank with Germany and for themselves. Eventually they gave up on the joint US German program, and then their government program. They left it to the private sector to design the best tank that met certain specifications. The chrysler bid eventually won out in the end thanks in part to price, noise, and the versatility to run well on practically any fuel.
