They definitely shunk in use case, but still possess a vital role.

Pagers are still used by hospitals though

@Markimark151 only in USA. Beta was the choice in Asia and other markets. In countries like Japan VHS failed and betamax won😕

@Markimark151 your desperately trying to pretend only the western market matters and its hilarious 😂 Wake up and realise the world is bigger then your garden.

@jasonbecker4997 my issue is westerners thinking west is all that matters. Things can be successful outside the west. It's not the centre of the universe. Other parts of the globe matter too.

Who remembers using MSN to ask Jeves something?

@matthewjahnke6956 restaurants and hotels use them extensively for smooth operation. Trust me, I worked at a hotel with a restaurant not too recently. Example: we had pagers for most communications, even if the messenge was just "call" 📟 we also handed them to waiting people when the restaurant was full. "We'll beep you 15 min till your table is ready, sometimes it's earlier, please be avaliable"

@Markimark151 sure, just ignore more then 1/3 of people 🙄 for context most VHS manufacturers halted in 2005. Meanwhile Betamax went until 2016. Countries like India and China used betamax not VHS. They are also the 2 most populace Countries on earth...

@Markimark151 I'm not talking about super beta which is still used by some professionals and is manufactured by others then Sony. Movies in India, China, and Japan were sold on Beta cassette. Sure it was only popular in some markets. However these markets were a considerably large portion of earth.... your undercutting it's relevance with a very US centric view.

@Markimark151 Betamax was in production longer then VHS by Sony exactly because the huge sales volume in China, India, Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Asia and Betamax popularity was bigger then just Japan. Again, being ignorant of where most of the people live. There's a reason sony dropped VHS production in 2010 and maintained Betamax till 2016. The reason was profits 📈

@Markimark151 professional betamax are called Betacam and have a few brands. Im talking about Betamax home cassettes, not professional betacam. You know almost 60% of the world lives in Asia? (that's a lot) majority of the population prefered betamax. You should also know the average betamax home bought many blank tapes for recording TV compared to a VHS home. There's really nothing else to say. You can come out of your bubble any time.
