@duo7809 I think it's more about making sure they are old enough to understand the choice. They did change it from 18 to 16 after all. It has been allowed for a while now.

@entfj no. The law is only for government institutions and there's only male, female, intersex, or X recognised. You can't go to jail for saying the wrong one. Only if you are a government institution, use the wrong one, and refuse to fix it on documentation.

@raisonneur682 in Canada the age limit is 12. There's no approval process either. It's not a big deal just pay your $100 and change away. You can always change back later. It's just a word that does on your ID.

Are they? The bill lowered the age requirement from 18 to 16, which to be fair is a little young.
