@rustyyb8450 also barbery pirates took an estimated 1.5 million slaves over 100 years.

Steve from accounting?

I'm pretty sure none did...

The hundreds in billions in aid every year, that's just peanuts right?
3
@McSlobo there was already a market in Africa. Europeans didn't just show up one day and make it happen.

@BlueIvory4 America alone sends around 11 billion in Africa on humanitarian emergency aid each year. EU isn't far behind. That's not including FMF and other funding sources. All in all Africa is getting a few hundred billion from Europe, America, and Canada every year.

What about Arab slave trade? What about the Holy order slave trade? What about the cat in the hat?
2
@dennishunter5552 why? Do you want atonement and compensation for how my comment affected you?

The best way to access investment opportunities is to stamp down on corruption.

@hizbawiginbarginbarghinda3872 technically "barbarian" meant doesn't speak Greek. Romans later appropriated it to mean anyone who didn't speak Latin. Also "Europe" first came into use around 6th century BCE. The Greek philosophers Anaximander and Hecataeus concived of "europe" and the Romans definitely adopted the designation. Anaximander and Hecataeus studied at the great library of alexandria and left some of their works their for others to study. "Europe" or "broad face" would have an ever changing shape for quite a while as maps were re drawn though. It had been an established concept well before 900 CE.

What about the Arab slave trade. The middle east owes Africa too.

And France stole a bunch of art, statues and jewls from Italy. Italy who stole most of it from the Byzantine empire. As long as it's being preserved you should count your blessings. So many cultures have had their artifacts destroyed to rewrite history.

@velshock they had an open market. It was business as usual just like the Arab trade, or the barbery pirates

Can they pay reputations for blinding my great grandpa who was a civilian trying to flee Malaysia. Or for torturing and beating my grandpa. A POW camp second lieutenant nick named blood beat my gramps so bad he lost a kidney. It was so infected when they removed it he had to get a transplant then remove his other kidney. Not to mention the torture games they played with prisoners.

Mostly Africans sold things to Europeans. They weren't exactly running around africa throwing nets on people.
1
@CHMichael aren't they the third largest economy in the EU?
1
Europe doesn't owe them anything to begin with. Last time I checked it was a cash up front kind of exchange with other Africans.

@jansenart0 I have a shrunken skull attached to a short sword with a human leather bound handle and sheath. The hair makes a tassle under the pummel. Great grandfather got it in Thailand when he traveled after ww1. I think 1920.
1
You know Africans were selling the slaves and also took many Europeans as slaves too? Maybe Africa owes Europe 11 trillion for the millions of slaves the barbery pirates took until almost the 19th century?

Most seem to forget the Arab slave trade was a thing.
1
Arab slave trade was a thing but it's not woke enough to acknowledge.
