@chench1lla most were straight up banned, they voluntarily said no, then China said k by by.

She completely missed the mark and had no idea what the crux of the issue is.

It produces a lot of jail bait.
2
Those web sites and more were all blocked in China.
2
Well most western apps already got banned in China. They deserve retaliation.

@NordStar7 how is it not democratic to discuss and vote an a dangerous product?

@eliso5973 there was no decision. China made unfair laws to access their servers then kicked them out when they didn't comply. The official government response was that it provided access to adult content for minors. They also banned Phub, and most adult western websites at the same time. So China says it was about protecting kids. If you believe their official response. Source, official CCP government response.

@eliso5973 maybe I can't define what's unfair. However there is a legal definition of unfair: "not fair or conforming to fundamental notions of justice, honesty, ethics or the like. Unlawful means any policy or practice which constitutes illegal discrimination as defined in federal, state" The laws china passed were legally defined as unfair and ethically unenforceable. China wanted unrestricted access to their source codes. Those are trade marked company secrets.

@blackhawk69100 Did you watch the story. The bann is a proposed Bill. Tiktok still legal there. Luckily here even life guards and city maintenance crews aren't allowed tiktok. At least our government will run a little more efficient now. Without digital crack leaching off their time and mental health.

I guess western websites share information technology doesn't want people to know. Since most western apps and Web sites are blocked in China. I could name 10 off the top of my head. From g00gle to face book and everything in between.
1
@jadallah5170 the app has security features in China not avaliable in the west. in China after 90 minutes kids are locked out and forced to take a few hour break. For adults after 90 minutes the app deliberately shows you boring content so adults will take a break 😴 The problem is they know it effects mental health and developed safety measures. Only for China though. They are deliberately hurting kids and adults.
1
@IceQueenaliasIQ well most western apps are blocked by China. Tiktok deserves the same response in kind.
1
@lanik8163 they provide phones to politicians and other workers. Most People working for like parks department or aquatics don't have government phones. Now even life guards can't use tiktok in Canada. You get payed to do a job for the government, no tiktok allowed.
1
@eliso5973 evidence has already showed they have direct access to the US servers and has shown sensitive data is sent to China. Maybe is they are concerned about free speach they should unblock the dozens of western apps and sites like G male they blocked, over "protecting kids". 🤔
1
@eliso5973 governments need to make requests, and unless it's regarding terrorism the company can say no, or request a closed hearing. Most information on government servers is caught using their own tools like prism. In most cases the government doesn't even need to ask. Tiktok is run by the Chinese government. They have secret police harassing citizens in our country and spy balloons interrupting flights. You seriously trust the lies about tiktok. Heck tiktok has mental health and safety features only enabled in China. They deliberately make the app more addictive and depressing outside China.
1
@eliso5973 trump also said he would buy Greenland. Trump says a lot of things with no actions to back up his words. I wouldn't give his wild statements much credit.

For the sake of mental health and teens, we must bann tiktiok. Their screen time safety features weren't even available outside of China until last month. They also watered them down making it super easy to bypass. They no it has mental health concerns but only care to provide proper safety features to Chinese users. It's sick, they deliberately hurt children 😢
1
It's funny, China blocks twitter and a bunch of Western apps. Then complains at the very idea of blocking their spy app. If China is worried about free speach and cultural exchange let your people use G00gle, Face book, G male, Excetera. They don't even enable mental health safety features they developed outside of China. They purposely make it more addictive and depressing to use outside of China.

@lucasRem-ku6eb I guess so is America

China already owns the company and stores the data on government owned servers. They don't need to ask for permission, they collect the data directly. Besides China has donned dozens of Western apps and Web sites 🕸 🖥

She completely missed the ball. isn't it strange that China has banned dozens of Western apps. Why not respond in kind?
