  1. Armenia actually invested heavily in things like tanks and had a much stronger military, on paper. However Azerbaijan with a similar slightly smaller military budget invested heavily in drones and other cheaper alternatives to big ticket items. It turns out having a large amount of okay equipment beats a small amount of gold plated solutions.

  2. It was Azerbaijan land until the USSR took it and gave it to Armenia. This is the legacy of the USSR correcting itself. What a sad and deadly result of russian meddling.

  4.  @magnvss  well industrial capacity and budget is another story. However military channels have highlighted the rather similar budgets of their military with very different spending priorities. Armenia went hard in a small amount of big ticket items. New generation tanks, attack helicopters etcetera. Azerbaijan went hard in things like drones, decent enough night ops, etcetera. The end result was Azerbaijan had a lot of decent enough equipment. While Armenia only had a small core of elite equipment. Attrition favoured Azerbaijan. Though with the economy you make a good point. Azerbaijan had more going for them in a long war to begin with. Though Armenia was only ready for a short one.

  5.  @mariopigwa8538  Armenia forced Azerbaijan people off the land in 1992 at bayonet point. Revanchism held strong and Azerbaijan "corrected" wrongs made in 1992.

I'd be more sympathetic if they weren't a russkiye puppet grabbing land

  8. It wasn't autonomous the entire time frame. It drifted in and out of being autonomous and ruled by the state during the time frame you list. The history of the region is not cut and dry.

  19.  @bishbashbosh3863  not true, they do however have a much larger military. It's because they invested In "good enough" tech to supply their whole military. Opposed to Armenia who had a strong core of "next gen tech", and little to no support.
