@esteemedyams yet russian mercenaries are literally present in almost 20 African nations influencing the government. Its not exactly voluntary support. You might have noticed half of africa votes against russia in the U.N. or that India has affirmed they follow the oil price cap.

@hi8383 it was grain to the market. Without that grain in the market prices go up and some people are left short when bidding for shipments.

Except only a few countries really make enough. It's only economically viable if you can also export. In a stable world the land can be used for industry or other crops, then traded for grain. There's like less then 20 countries that produce all their grain needs globally.

Their GDP is smaller then Canada (9th) and Korea (10th). Pretty soon I think they will lose their number 11 spot. They are pretty clearly falling from grace as any kind of global influencer. Hard to do when so many other parties can out spend you.

India needs to stop speaking for the global south. Only 3 countries in South America didn't vote for russian immediate withdrawal from Ukraine. Half of africa voted against russia. Almost 30% of Asia voted against russia. Meanwhile India still follows the oil price cap. russia is mostly alone. They only have pariahs like Iran and NK to lean on.
