  1. Haitis South is intersected by the Gonave microplate and the North lies on the boundary. Since at least the 1700s there has been evidence it is slipping under the Caribbean plate by 2cm a year. This has lead to frequent and often devastating earthquakes at an unusually high rate.

  7.  @dannyarcher6370  why is science so offensive to you? Haiti is on a micro plate, surrounded by 4 major plates and is slowly slipping under a larger plate while others push it. In a million years Haiti will look completely different then it does now. Might not even be above water.

  9.  @dannyarcher6370  the frequency is higher then anywhere. Over all size is Chile on record. However Hispaniola is the region most hit by 7.0 or greater earthquakes and the fault cuts right through Haiti.

  10.  @dannyarcher6370  if you look at the fault line it practically crosses the border. They also don't have the problem of part of their country slowly grinding and sinking against the other. In a million years Costa Rica will loose shoreline. At the same time Haiti will grind against itself while sinking and make an internally knew landscape. Look at the falt line of their micro plate and you will understand.
