if Spanish Hermosa kept Taiwan and kicked the dutch out, it would have been part of the philippines as the 4th island chain and 4th star in the philippine flag. the ethnic chinese of taiwan are mostly the same as the ethnic chinese of the philippines too.

@jackking7549 lol Orchid island by Taiwan is inhabited by a people who call themselves "Tao" who the japanese called as "Yami". ..."tao" is the common word for human in most philippine languages, including the nearby Batanes islands, where the nearest island of the philippines "Y'ami island" is only 97.5km, whereas penghu islands to mainland china is 158.70km....

the Taic peoples come from ancient proto-austronesian. the proto-austronesians just left the continent earlier and so in china, they remember Taic speakers since those persisted later and spread further to indochina peninsula

@taiwanfocus4385 right. meanwhile, in neighboring asian countries, spanish, portuguese, dutch are all rare ethnic groups, but the rare few of whom aren't foreign at all. tho i doubt, taiwan has any more of those than its neighbors do, especially spanish, portuguese, and dutch.

@bctvanw its a funny situation hahaha. in the philippines, ethnic chinese are minority while ethnic austronesians are majority, but in taiwan, ethnic chinese are majority but ethnic austronesians are minority. i, myself, am an ethnic chinese minority that grew up and lives in the philippines.
