  4. ​ @omniyambot9876  probably, cuz these landlords in the philippines. the practice started with "hacienderos", who were first started by spaniards setting up farming estate hacienda plantations for the king of spain. when those spaniards died, they simply bequeathed their lands to the friar orders who let some mestizo families be their inquilino tenant families running the affairs of those hacienda estates. when the philippine revolution came, some of the abusive spanish and italian friars were murdered and eventually when the americans came to conquer, they gave the friar lands away to the people, that being the inquilino tenant families who had a lot of influence already and so officially started their legitimate being as the real landlords now. the national hero himself, his parents up to his great grandfather were also simply inquilino tenants running a farming estate under the friars who later kicked out his father when he was young.

  6. many in the philippines always say that indians are the best in IT and even on youtube, they teach us free IT tutorial, but in terms of customer service to speak clearer english or more convincing accent of english, this is where filipinos excel.

  7.  @nunyabiznes33  maybe the american english that philippine english inherited is more neutral than if it were from british english, tho i think the frequent complaint about indian english has to do with an indian accent exhibited by many indian english speakers. Perhaps, languages in india contribute to that sort of accent more, whereas in the philippines, austronesian languages usually have simple enough phonetics like how japanese pronounces words and people in the philippines already had exposure before codeswitching with another european language, that is spanish, which today contribute lots of loanwords to philippine languages now like how english has a lot of norman french and latin/greek loanwords.

  14. what was taught to us in college about these american era laws was that the limits to the hectares of land on the people were a ploy by american politicians lobbied by their sugar industry barons there in the states to block the growth of philippine agricultural exports from being able to compete in the US market and so, it was the fault of the americans, not the local landlords
