@matovicmmilan treaty partner. look up the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and Security between the United States and Japan. the US has the same agreement with south korea, philippines, thailand, and unofficially with taiwan. japan's constitution was remade after losing ww2 and they cannot build a military besides a self defense force. they are constitutionally mandated that if they are attacked in a war, that the US will come in to defend them. japan's military these days is mostly the JSDF which they are informally enlarging for supposed defense purposes. they aim to defend taiwan as well from invasion.

@matovicmmilan the naming of whatever treaty would be named like that whichever the interests of whichever country there may be. it's pretty neutral and serves its purpose in as usual default propagandistic title to a treaty for whatever purpose. if u want to delve deeper into american and japanese interests, why are you hiding the threat to taiwan? i have simply stated that american forces have not left japan and have a treaty there and this is so as well in multiple neighboring countries. geopolitics in whichever country never does anything simple on the surface without other interests motivating the actions and decisions done under it because of course each nation has its own national interests. japan could station troops on the US mainland for whatever reason, but in the current landscape, this would be a waste of money if besides joint training. it is fairly obvious even in the past decades during the cold war that the threat to US and japanese interests lays closer to the west and/or north of japan and south korea so of course, theyd want more troops in japan and south korea than in continental US. they could station troops in alaska or guam or hawaii or somewhere in the pacific if for some reason, their set rival/s have perceived threats nearer to those places.
