@Bodonism in reality, the filipino genepool is 36% east asian (mostly chinese hokkien), 5% european spanish, 2% native american (probably mexican), 3% south asian, and 53% native austronesian southeast asian. filipinos are not polynesian. it is like telling a german that he looks like a swede.

i dont really get these beauty contests. i mean im also filipino but hey whats the big deal about winning a beauty contest even if it is a global one. will our lives get better if one of us was supposedly praised to be the most beautiful representative out of those from other countries? winning beauty contests like that is just a publicity thing. thats the only thing we achieve and are awarded there. what sort of awareness of whatever problem do candidates ever reach to people in the world? do people seriously care when candidates just say oh i want world peace for the world. mass advert marketing campaigns are more effective in raising more awareness than any beauty contest there is.

american colonial history used english for mass education of the populace and current modern education also uses english as language of instruction. also since we know english, there are scenarios where what we want to express can be conveyed shorter and easier if we use english terms or tagalog terms instead

simple, cuz its easier. there are terms easier to explain in english and terms easier in tagalog. american colonial english education and modern english education have already taught most filipinos english so we can make use of it as simple as if its all one language continuum with tagalog

awhile ago here in manila, children outside in the streets sing christmas carols in front of homes and the nearby malls love to launch fireworks at night even though its not christmas or new years yet and awhile ago i also went to a nearby mall where the parking lot was made into a sort of a small carnival with a christmas outdoor animatronic show whatever thing. seems to be a new gimick they have this year here

it doesnt make any sense to disinclude filipinos with spanish last names. filipinos with spanish last names dont necessarily mean they have had any spanish admixture. governor general narciso claveria just ordered a colonial decree before to provide native filipinos without a family name to be provided with spanish family names from a catalog so the colonial government can keep consistent records. that or when they were baptized in the catholic church, the church gave them a christianized name if they did or did not have a family name before.

hey if she wins something or anything in the filipino name, any old common pinoy in the street will say something positive about it regardless if they know this person's foreign ancestry or any other detail about it at all
4
asian names? bro do you even know what names do normal filipinos use. its gonna surprise you the names aren't gonna sound or fit in your classification of "asian names". most english names themselves have hebrew or generally foreign roots as a result of foreign influence or outright rule. what do you think filipinos use when theyve been ruled by europeans and americans for more than three centuries

@Bodonism lol you walk around for some days or months in the streets and thinks he now knows all about filipinos. what you see in the streets are the majority lower class masses. mestizo filipinos are the upper middle class minorities. also stop calling us polynesians, how would you like it if we called you a swede

actually 53% of the country's 104.9 million citizens are pure native filipino austronesian southeast asians. 36% have east asian admixture(mostly chinese and little bit japanese and korean), 5% have spanish(both european or mexican-born), 2% have native american admixture(mexican), 3% south asian(indian), also 1.9% of the population are pure unmixed chinese

only the other half of the populace

lol its a bit of hit and miss with the philippines, genetic surveys like from national geographic show that the philippines isnt exactly entirely mixed and entirely pure as beerpong9000 would base off of observation of people walking around in the streets here. according to national geographic's genographic reference populations, the philippine genepool is 53% native austronesian malay filipino (a majority, yes), but 36% of the genepool has east asian admixture from throughout the centuries of chinese migration and a little bit of japanese too and these days a little bit of korean too, the spanish admixture is indeed overrepresented with only 5% southern european admixture, 2% native american admixture which is probably from mexicans from the spanish empire centuries ago, and 3% south asian admixture probably from precolonial indian influence or former british raj soldier descendants who invaded at one point some centuries back.
