this behavior most probably existed even way back to the spanish times, rizal even represented it through pilosopo tasyo in his books as that man, common people deem as a lunatic despite being regarded as a genius or respected old man by the rare colleague he encounters. i think the only best solution at least we can do about this is to at least promise to ourselves to not contribute and perpetuate such attitudes in ourselves and our future children. this thinking needs to be erased from our society if possibly not at once, then at least gradually with each of the next generations

@Legendary universe a big proportion of people in the philippines are much more comfortable speaking a mix of english with tagalog/filipino or their native regional language. it isnt necessarily that just because we're like kinda iffy or not as confident in speaking straight in a certain language that we'd be much comfortable with speaking just our local native language. i'd say realistically a lot of filipinos real native language is basically taglish or bislish or whatever at this point rather than just one language

sadly, i dont think you'd ever find a channel willing to do that for our country. the spaniards have influenced a whole lot about our country, enough that it basically forms like the majority of the present known history curriculum of the philippines, mainly because the prehispanic period is so scarcely known due to it being undocumented or any sort of past documents being destroyed by abusive spanish friars. those 333 years under the spanish empire though has been so long that theres not much big exciting events that happen that are talked about there besides perhaps the periodic regional revolts for whatever reason and drama at the time. the amount of spanish-ness of our country is a bit less than latin america but given how aggressive the spanish empire was at promoting their spanish culture, let's just name a few prominent things the spanish have shaped us into. religion, influences to languages, architecture, folk music and instruments, folk dance, old paintings, province names, latin script for the language, american trading ties, ...hmm what else... colonial mentality maybe hahaha

dont worry, every country has its differences. some even have even more different cultures within it. though dont worry, i always hear from japanese that you guys are always surprised about different countries even those of your neighbors. dont focus too much on the differences since you can always remember though that we are still asian countries close neighbors with each other so there are still values and behaviors that are observed to be similar, whether fully or partially alike.

theres this widespread social problem all the time here in the philippines like sure people are like the most satisfied kind of people when surveyed about their life from 1 to 10 as compared to other peoples from other countries wouldve responded. people here in the philippines are like gonna go yeah yeah its a full 10 or 7, I'm alright with my life but hey theres a reason why every other country out there wouldnt be so optimistic in life and dont exactly give all 10s. its because people in other countries perpetually want their lives to be better and better so theyre never satisfied and so this drives them to keep dreaming to improve their country meanwhile in the philippines, sure everybody's so happy and content but it's like a lazy attitude to perpetuate as there won't be as much effort to keep improving and it seems like we're just improving just so we catch up in the bare minimum threshold against other countries just so we dont seem obsolete. kumbaga nagtratrabaho lang para di mapag-iwanan pero like bahala na ok na buhay. like in the big business management sectors in the country here in the philippines, this attitude is a widely known pitfall / joke that people want to avoid because its such an inherent filipino thing that we do.
