lol the random normie superior that first appears in ur mind isnt the usual superior that one would imagine in japan. its more like usually an older person with more experience than you just silently working with a serious face. it can be intimidating to walk by and leave passing by superiors like that.

here in the philippines. we also use the 12 hour format rather than the 24 hour format. years ago i would have also called it army time before a belgian i talked to wondered about it and told me that army time for them was like without the ":" like 1900, 2400, 0500 sort of thing

oh i think i feel how the japanese mindset of going overtime lol. its when midwork, you're thinking oh im working and working but not too much but ok then later when time is almost up, you keep working then when time is up, you think hey i havent finished my work i was doing so i wanna finish it so i keep working even when its overtime already then others who are indeed finished working look around and see others are still working hard probably because theyre finishing stuff up so others still stay just so they dont look like the lazy one out of the other workers and their boss. appearance and perception is very important and paramount very much especially in east asia. even though some moments midwork people arent always working and just thinking stuff in their minds or relaxing a bit, some people may observe the japanese and think he must still be hard at work. sometimes i feel when my workmates look at me, they think im hard at work cuz i seem to look serious or doing something even though im just thinking random things in my mind
