  1. i think it has a bad meaning for every country in asia that got inavaded by japan in world war 2. it looks like a perfect symbol of the japanese empire's extending rays of tentacles shining ever bright to engulf all other asian countries around lol. this is probably why it's supposed to symbolize happiness and tradition to japan because to them, this is a happy thing to shine bright and extend their traditions to surrounding asian countries lol.
