Lance Arguelles its because we mesh the foreign language to our own as if the 2 languages are now one. this is why we can make verbs in filipino way but using the english root word.

Molly Dores officially speaking, the country doesnt do divorce due to respecting the catholic canon law but there are of course always other ways to separate. in filipino society, annulment is pretty much what filipinos popularly know to be able to separate and have always used it. in church terms, this is called the declaration of nullity. certain conditions need to apply first before legal marital separation can occur. if a person was not of the right mind of some sort of mental psychological problem before marrying, then one could be considered by the church that the marriage didnt really happen because one of the spouse's mental state is questioned. if the person got the mental condition after marriage though, then that is included in the promise of marriage that in sickness and in health you will go through with this person. of course, that doesn't mean you have to live with this crazed spouse. you can live separate ways as if not married but legally and canonically speaking, you are still married.

Molly Dores im not catholic but thats how life normally is here. people just resort to annulment or divorce in another country if they so wanted to. muslims though are allowed divorce in the circumstances of their religion. some non catholic churches too might allow marriages under their church to divorce but the catholic church does not consider that binding because of the view that sure canon law is only for the catholics but what the catholic church sees as part of divine law is for all other christians too. the inclined idea is that people have a pegged mindset to be serious about marriage and to resolve it together especially locked with children because they are chained with no choice of freely abandoning it. but of course certain scenarios that you describe are considered to justify declaring the nullity.

thats how we evolve our language lol. this is how we did it with spanish in before english lol. its why filipino languages have a lot of spanish loanwords because we just use them instead. now we do this too with english.

Raphanne those spanish words are no longer simply code switching to spanish. they are now included officially in the local language with its own local spelling. english though is still separate but there are a good amount that have become adopted and filipinized.

the issue of divorce in the philippines actually isnt new here. its been in argument for decades. the issue springs back and forth from time to time. cant even remember when it first started.

well at the end of the day, it is our republic despite any foreigner's worldview. the people will make their own decisions when it comes though the politicians might make that decision instead out of their own agendas as to which law suits them.

〜ハナシ isnt the code switching not exclusive to people who use tagalog. i know taglish isnt the only one that exists. theres also bislish for bisayas who mix bisaya and english and as i know i've heard other languages in the provinces who blog that way. i've even heard something called hokaglish when hokkien chinese filipinos speak in mix of hokkien, english, and tagalog or insert whichever other philippine language in other provinces. i suppose its more common in the cities.

the people in the video speak in tagalog and english. the spanish that you hear are all part of tagalog now with its own localized spelling and pronunciation. tagalog or even other local philippine languages frequently code switch with english. this is how we filipinos evolve our language. the same was done with spanish before hence you hear them incorporated already.

because the positive note that people cling and hope here is that by being chained to the system. some broken families have decided to be forced by life issues and situations to straighten out and fix the marriage rather than abandon it. of course it doesnt happen all the time but it is one idea people cling to here.

no divorce is one of the reasons why the usual filipino courting period is very long. dating in the filipino setting lasts not just months but years before people decide to marry. some countries may see this normal or shocking.
