@koukidenhikaitu4990 im not from korea. i wouldn't know what it means to them. in my country, a rival is just ur competitor and it can be a bad or good thing, but usually it sounds like a bad thing.

@koukidenhikaitu4990 its cuz in east asia, theres this big rival mentality with the countries there, always suspicious of the next country, meanwhile in southeast asia, everyone acts like theyre brothers progressing as one in asean...

@indira6147 the light skin beauty standard mentality is a carry over too from precolonial times, if you've seen the illustrations we have of precolonial binukot sheltered princess daughters and precolonial nobility in the boxer codex, the skin tone that is featured is also light skin, especially for women. the spanish and american colonial times just further reinforced that light skin mentality because now then, the upper ruling classes were certainly as pale white or dusky light toned as spaniards, and then later the white american beauty standards. the beauty standard just kept on toning lighter and lighter throughout history, tho these days its mostly a superficial beauty preference than a racist social requirement

@indira6147 yeah usually the lighter skin toned austronesians are often from around the highland ethnic groups like igorot groups in the cordillera mountains of Luzon. many others tho were mixed mestizo descendants from spanish colonial times, usually mostly from hokkien southern chinese or sometimes cantonese southern chinese or japanese partial ancestry, then there's a sparse few who have partial spanish descent or some upper class families have purer spanish descent. or also the rare few with native mexican admixture with their spanish descent. then also, a rare few with south indian descent. then from recent century, there's a rare few with varied partial white european american descent or jewish descent. In normal everyday living in ph tho, you will usually find on the streets and in public usually half or more native lowland austronesian filipinos, then half or a third of mixed mestizo ancestry from spanish colonial times who do not think of themselves any different from the native filipinos. then, maybe a quarter or third that are of chinese filipino background. then, maybe there's the rare 1 or 2 korean filipinos, iranian filipinos, indian filipinos, or japanese filipinos, or children of american or european or australian expats and maybe some 1/8 may also be fil-am or fil-canadian that has either lived in or grew up from US or canada.

@sacramento-5046 most native filipinos are native austronesian malayo-polynesian filipinos. not all filipinos are of this stock but most are. Filipino is a nationality, not an ethnicity. The pacific islanders themselves, whether polynesian or micronesian are descended from ancestors of these native malaysian-polynesian filipinos, not the other way round. Some filipinos do have at least partial spanish descent, at least 5% of the average filipino genepool does, but that's still small and most you'll meet likely do not have spanish descent. usually people who have legitimate at least partial or more spanish descent are from the upper class families. I had a classmate and few others who even look like they really do, but they are more low-key, they're the type not to brag about it unlike other filipinos who don't have it will try to do

@sacramento-5046 like i said, national geographic did a genographic project before and did this for different countries. those were the results for the average filipino genepool with 53% for southeast asian, 36% for east asian, 5% southern european, 3% south asian, 2% native american. Southeast asian obviously represents the native austronesian filipinos, the east asian represents the chinese filipinos (mostly hokkien and a few cantonese), mixed mestizo de sangley filipino descendants, and a few japanese filipinos, southern european represents those with at least partial or some spanish descent such as mestizo de español filipino descendants, south asian represents those with south indian descent, and native american represents those with native mexican descent which most likely also from the mestizo de español americano mestizo filipino groups

its weird tho, the situation was. it was a tattoo that had nothing to do with south korea yet korean netizens reacted to it to not even the proper country who did it, cuz this was done by a Filipino-American, not the same as just any filipino in the philippines, yet how the hell, we get any blame for this stuff...

and the fact that, this was done originally by an American of filipino descent..... on a tattoo that only alluded to Imperial Japan...... and nothing at all to do with SK and PH......

yeaaaah why tf no one ever mentions in the video or to anyone in those twitter war stuff the fact that these are Murican things. what do we have to do with this shiz??? a lot of people know common americans dont know a lot about history in other countries besides their own, so it would explain a lot why tf that girl had those rising sun design themes...
