the US pronunciation of Madagascar is right. most of the "europeans" that watch this channel are from the UK and in british english, that (/ə/ or /ɑ/) is how they pronounce it, but the term itself came from French and in french and even catalan, the pronunciation of the last A is the /a/ used in the american english pronunciation

@M4gicMark i didnt say it was an excuse. im from ph too. the main reasons why the US let us go is because the Nacionalista party under Manuel Quezon frequently asked the US to let us go on independence missions to washington dc, especially during the US Great Depression times right before ww2 and right after the Roaring 20s in the US when they were rich and now poor. the rival party of Nacionalista party before was called the Federalista party and they were basically 51st statists. the US during great depression years could not fathom a block of 3 more states being added with a power of 6 local ph senators from mestizo filipino oligarchic families. even the sugar barons in the US did not want competition from the sugarcane industry of the philippines, which is why all land was limited the 16 and 1024 hectares only in the philippines under US rule. no more, no less. or else, u get shot by american soldiers thinking u might be communist or rebel guerillas supplying nearby secret camps

@Emanon... ive been trying to reply for hours now but freakin youtube keeps on deleting my comments just cuz i explained the history around here...there's probably some sort of ai algorithm censorship here. basically, we have a lot of history in my country that also involved US colonial secrets and laws and it also involved people dying and certain techniques by soldiers they invented too and us being the fodder instead for imperial japan rather than US mainland ever getting invaded. i hope this one doesnt get deleted by youtube now. huh? the philippines and Liberia wasnt the only US colony, they are the only ones that are vocal about it, but there are many other US colonies before too, like American Samoa, FS of Micronesia, Palau, Marshall Islands, US Virgin Islands, Northern Marianas, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. In fact the last 3 are still US colonies...

@Dr.Lepper im not sure if the native hawaiians had the problem of disease that native americans did. native filipinos and micronesians also didnt have any problem cuz they were already in contact with other europeans or asians before. the US just got a lot of them through opportunities they got where they could suddenly come in to park their armies or migrants in great numbers to swarm the natives

he is mistaken, the Philippines wasnt the only colony of the US. there's also FS of Micronesia, Palau, Marshall Islands, Northern Marianas, US Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii. In fact the last 3 are still US colonies... and the first 4 plus Guam used to part of the Spanish East Indies as the Marianas and Carolinas islands, which couldve been part of the Philippines too, had they decided to not split and just hold free association with the US or still be a colony a.k.a. "unincorporated U.S. territory"

Manuel Quezon's Nacionalista party that eventually won out. the US supported that party because the commonwealth period was US Great Depression times, right after the Roaring 20s, and they could not fathom the idea of adding 3 more states to make a powerful block of 6 senators from the mestizo oligarchy in the philippines that still hold majority power today in philippine politics. there were actually a lot of Sugar barons in the farming and industry sectors of the US that didnt want massive competition coming from the Philippines since the rural sectors in ph had a lot of sugarcane fields. due to that, they often lobbied to cripple the property laws in the philippines to merely 16 hectares for each person and 1024 hectares for each company, no more no less, or else you get shot by american soldiers for suspected guerilla running around different lands possibly to supply rebel or communist groups or both...
