  1. its a big thing in many asian countries whether east asia or southeast asia where it's sorely looked down upon and laughed at if you made mistakes in front of the class so people are usually afraid to raise their hands and participate. for example, if u ask too much questions, some classmates might talk behind your back about you being incompetent
