@mmrgratitudes there are many mestizo filipino families even these days who don't realize their own family's past roots, especially because several generations have passed where there family line has had more majority native filipino admixture intermarriage. the Contreras family is one of the well-off families in the philippines these days. you may find this surname among many students in the big schools and families in rich subdivision villages and i would not be surprised of their mestizo roots themselves as Contreras is a town in Burgos, Spain. raul contreras most likely thinks like this because he feels excluded from already having more native ancestry than any old colonial-era foreign ancestry or at least inherited more native looks (which is more frequent in ph even these days)

oh many western europeans still think that way even today. hours ago, i just had a dutch person reply to me here on youtube saying the same arguments that their country's wealth was just gotten from "trade" and everybody was doing it before just like slavery, as if it was any better lol.

That was the most ironic thing ever, especially the Pakistani guy was literally sitting beside a guy from the Philippines, which is a country that decades before that interview was literally an AMERICAN COLONY they stole from Spain as the Philippine revolutionaries had just finished trying to kick the Spaniards out lol

i dont understand why filipino commenters here praise raul contreras's english when his english is actually just the old educated filipino accent thats actually still not as perfect. his english is what ive heard and expected from old timers around here in ph. makes the same pronunciation mistakes still for certain words (that now have actually been passed down as repeated mistakes for many filipinos) and other words seemingly tries hard to copy a certain american accent to the point of sounding unnatural. i grew up in certain schools where the english is completely natural, albeit his english would be considered not completely up to par due to some of his pronunciation mistakes. his word choice tho is completely normal even from the people around my background. if other filipino commenters here praise him as if he is far better than what we have now, i'd be worried what kind of filipinos have these commenters been around
