@flaxco easy for you guys over across the ocean on the literal other side of the world from the philippines to talk like that. when war comes to the philippines, it's us in the philippines that gets affected or even killed due to decisions of politicians literally on the other side of the world. innocent people in your filipino parents/grandparents and relatives' homeland will be killed instead just like what happened in ww2 and previous wars. meanwhile americans in contiguous states sit back and send thoughts and prayers

oo nga marami kasing bobong filipino. kapag magkagera, sila unang ipasabak, doon lang sila mag-isip-isip bakit sila sumabak sa gera ng ibang bansa

china does not allow foreign migrants to attain citizenship in china, at most is just for temporary work visa. although we do have a lot of chinese filipinos in china as well going back and forth studying in the philippines and china. my sister once had a friend during highschool who after graduation went back to china and lived there after studying in the philippines. she has relatives in the philippines too.

@fkoff7649 Lol, do you know that goes both ways as well? Chinese Filipino companies also pay (any) Filipinos' salaries and are also the ones feeding you. most products in the palengkes, supermarket, and malls and even lazada and shopee are mostly imported by chinese filipinos from china to sell to any average filipinos....
1
@scalemodeltutor9841 that depends on what you consider as "Filipino culture" and what "assimilated" exactly means. chinoy culture is integrated and is a subculture of filipino culture, just as it is a diasporic culture from china, just as chinese indonesians, chinese malaysians, chinese thais, chinese singaporeans, etc.

@wernerschneider4460 if u are a foreigner, i think it might be controversial to say that his culture is "totally pilipino" because there are some pilipinos who have their own idea what is "totally pilipino" and sometimes chinoy culture is waylaid for it. chinoy culture that speaks hokkien and rarely cantonese are also a subgroup of filipino culture but it is of course also true to its roots as a historical overseas chinese culture, just integrated and adapted to filipino life for centuries.

@iceteazen tbh, if u did that, and the prc coast guard allowed u to talk with them, they will probably jokingly ask u be a traitor to ph and give up stuff for prc sake, which is still dumb even if u did have chinese ancestry
1
@iceteazen what are you talking about? the dude just said that there exists chinese filipino established companies. there are no steps being blocked against china there. in fact, it is to the economic interests of filchi companies that china stop taking territory with possible oil and islands for economic development. the only thing filchi do not like is the whole idea of war in the region since it means the economy tanking and import-export business will be greatly affected. cannot import goods from china if there is a war with them. most of the products sold on the market, whether in palengke, supermarket, lazada, shopee, malls, etc are mostly from china
1
@iceteazen they do that, particularly older filchi like boomers and elderlies because if the philippines rather stayed neutral, then economically, the philippines can still trade with china and there's still the possibility that US and japan can help taiwan so it is not conquered by china without the help of the philippines...
1
@iceteazen the US and japan and probably EU, quad, and five eyes alliance is powerful enough already, they can save taiwan even from nearby okinawa or have aircraft carrier fleets nearby the south and if they run out of supplies, they are free to harbor and buy supplies from nearby luzon even if the philippines stays neutral. we can sit back and relax and keep the war, death, and destruction away from our borders. let that muricans and mainlanders and japs fight their wars far enough from our land and if anyone from ph wants to help them, they can volunteer as mercenary corps like those swedes volunteering to help finland during ww2 even if they were neutral and also those volunteering to fight in ukraine. the asean neighbors did not like at all that ph gov decided to let american bases back in and is roping in the whole of southeast asia by doing so, which many said they want to kick out ph now cuz of that.
