  3. puerto rico, philippines, cuba, virgin islands, and guam, northern marianas, fs of micronesia, and palau were all US colonies after the US took them from spain. philippines, puerto rico, and cuba even have the same flag layout with only the colors switched around in solidarity with the coordinated revolutions our countries made before. philippines and cuba got the independence while fs of micronesia, palau, northern marianas got independence with free association whereas guam, virgin islands and puerto rico were left to rot as colonies under the name "US territories". american samoa is also like this and hawaii is just the one that became a state.

  6. 72 years ago, the philippines was in the exact same position as guam. guam and the native chamorros should have the choice for independence without simply being used by the US military just like it was in the philippines back then. a consequence of being a US territory in ww2 saw the philippines being bombed to high hell

Guam was a former spanish colony under the Spanish East Indies just like the Philippines, Northern Marianas, Palau, and FS of Micronesia. colonial decree in Manila in the philippines gave out spanish family names to natives without registered family names when the government first start making government records. this the same reason why people in the philippines, palau, marianas, micronesia can also have spanish last names

  9.  @sagittariusone2753  lol if wealth and being prosperous was what justifies being ruled over by others, feel free to surrender your country's independence to every country that is richer than you. the former US territories that you refer to such as the philippines and cuba that are not very prosperous today are not as rich and were not as rich as the US even when being ruled over by the US but now that they are independent, there has now an opportunity for their own countries to prosper by themselves with their own developments whether presently evident or not. even as independent countries, if the US was ever so eager and capable to help develop these countries, they could still do it as equal sovereign countries to each other...

  10. US territories are just another term for colonies. the philippines was in the exact same position 72 years ago except the US gave ph independence while guam and puerto rico were left to rot as "territories"

  13. joining the military is not the reason why he cant vote. its the fact that he was born and lived in a US "territory". he would not be able to vote even if he did not join the military. joining the military at least allows him more opportunities in life than what the US provides in guam
