  2. i think its an indirect relation that causes this relationship. the non tropical countries, geographically speaking, there's more countries in non tropical lands with more habitable human friendly environments rather than tropical areas where theres more hostile environments. in south america, you got the amazon and the andes mountains. in africa, you got the jungles of subsaharan africa and the sahel and saharan desert. in southeast asia, you also got jungles. also, in turn, there's more resources more easily attainable in colder/temperate climate regions

  4. actually, singapore has a very nice geographic location. 1/4 of the world's trade goes through the malacca strait which is primarily serviced by singapore. uae is also on a primary chokepoint on the persian gulf
