  1. Malaysian Borneo used to be just British Borneo in the past. Semenanjung Malaysia or in the past British Malaya and Straits Settlements used to be governed separately. Likewise, British Borneo were governed separately before.

  4.  @annabelleshasha  one does not need to be religiously homogeneous to have peace. indonesia is not religiously homogeneous yet it has not broken apart. indonesia might be the biggest muslim country but it also has many christian parts and respects many other religions too. likewise, philippines also respects the other religions in its territory. only malaysia is addicted to being muslim which singapore knows very well

  10.  @zjzr08  east timor relies heavily on indonesia, especially they deal with west timor a lot which is part of indonesia, whereas papua new guinea relies on australia more, but australia also sometimes exploits east timor. papua new guinea does not get much support yet to join asean because of their anti-gay laws which were not popular among certain asean members and the delegates they sent to certain asean countries also lost elections so they supported the wrong candidates. if both of them join asean now, their decisions will most likely mirror that of indonesia's decisions since indonesia has a choke hold of their economies they rely on. they will just be indonesia's puppets in asean and indonesia will have more disproportionate voting power in asean than its peers

  28. it dont even need to be about malay or austronesian whatever. the colonial east indies past already unites them all. indonesia's motto itself is unity in diversity yet it still has not broken apart and philippines and malaysia are also diverse yet all have been historically colonized and the average people generally look the same. all the countries in question have a mix of austronesian peoples and mixed chinese, indian, and european peoples. when combined together, the religions also weigh together. there might be many muslims in malaysia and indonesia, but there are also many christians in philippines, indonesia, malaysia. all also have a hindu-buddhist precolonial past, before the arrival of islam and christianity.
