  5. In my very patriarchal marriage of over 20 years, my income was always enough for everything. No, not to throw money out the window, but to have a decent life. She had complete freedom and I always encourage her to try out new things. Do volunteer work in the community or start studying at university. She has the freedom to live her life as she wants. If she doesn't feel like cooking, I whip up something for dinner. I see the need and work, but I also see why it allows us to live in relative freedom.   12. There's a lot changing regarding talking about money and status in germany. I lived in switzerland for 10 years and it was pretty common to congradulate a neighbour for his nice new car. In germany the always the hidden question resonates as to how he was able to afford it again. It's still unconfortable to talk with colleages or strangers about salaries and money.

  13. Es gibt noch eine Steigerungsform bei manchen Schweizer Dialekten z.B. beim Brienzer oder Berndütschi. Die Leute kommen mit einer perfekten Vorbildung in Schriftsprache und verstehen kein Wort. Das haben dort aber alle, weil auch die Berner genau zuhören müssen, wenn jemand im Dialekt des Oberwallis spricht. ;)
