@silvercrownt It is more than a legal thing. It is a vow between 2 people. It shows your dedication to that person. Ppl thinking it is just a paper that you sign is the exact problem. Maybe the gov should get out of the marriage business to out it back to what it was. This is all part of the destruction of the family.

@eveangel8967 Dale said it should have a high bar, not that it shouldn't be allowed. Your example seems like it would hit the bar. Why have marriage at all if ppl treat it like dating? You actually sign a contract. It should be taken seriously. We, as a society, should take it seriously. This is all part of tearing down the family.

@newtoncountry5937 There has been nothing unhinged about his comments. I'm well aware of the word. Unhinged is saying someone's comment is unhinged just because you disagree with it. (And we both know that is the problem) Unhinged is creating a whole narrative for a random person that you don't know, like the random spawn of a story of them having a wife who left them when they never said anything of the sort, or like saying they're bitter about this imaginary story you made up that they never even hinted at.

@silvercrownt I'm 38 and married. We have made all of those same commitments and also made vows to remain married till our death, in sickness and in health. We don't just take on each others gains. We also take on each others losses that either may have for the duration of our lives and after for the one that remains. Our relationship is so deep that we are willing to do that. Again, a friend is not a wife/husband. It is cute that you think so. Sad for her though.

@blueberrymcphuckerson9821 You literally vow to stay with them in "sickness and in health." I don't agree to force them to stay, but ppl should think about the vow they're taking and take it more seriously. And then live up to it. Or don't do it. Integrity, honor, etc are completely lost in this society.
