When that Afghan villager says to the soldier: "What can we do? We're simple people. You have tanks, planes, weapons. If you can't defeat them, how can we?"..... that says it all

You know when you were a kid and they'd say "not even once" and we all laughed at it. Well, its actually true about meth.

frontlines def one of things I watch soon as I can when I see a new upload
44
I trust Frontline more than any other 'news' production. They're a little left, but barely. They do a great job of being objective and just presenting the info.
36
No one can touch Frontline's credibility and integrity with journalism.
21
@khunlucie Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Putin forgets about Russia's own military misadventures. Afghanistan, Georgia, Checnya, Ukraine.... Just because he's right that NATO has not been trustworthy in all cases doesn't justify military invasions of his own.
13
Frontline is the best journalism out there
12
I never really liked Blinken but this made me change my opinion a bit. He comes off as pretty intelligent and aware in this interview.
11
Everyone curious about current events should watch this. Its five years old but it might as well have been released today.

@busterbeagle2167 It definitely leans a little left. But overall I find it very objective. Much better than most.
8
At least us that are here have an interest in learning more, and not being ignorant. Give yourself credit for that much.
7
I know Im not saying anything new, but man, what in the world were we even doing there in the first place?
5
@Cutlerypotato God I hate that kind of thinking. And you're*, not your.
5
@joeldavis5815 Its the one drug that terrifies me. Its worse than anything.
4
It really seems like the guy used his dead wifes suffering as moral justification to push this poison to the American public. I hope this assumption is incorrect but I don't think it is.
4
me too. trump is a lot of things but hes not stupid.
3
@Cutlerypotato yes
3
@Cutlerypotato I dont agree with that at all.
3
doctors without borders are real life super heroes. my god the selflessness.

I truly and honestly believe the death penalty is more humane than this. If the charge is so heinous, it should be a death penalty. If it wasnt, put them in GP and make it work. Its black or white to me, no grey. You cant lock people away by themselves 23 hours a day... its torture. I dont care what the crime was, its torture. Maybe six months, absolute max. But living in adseg for a decade? Come on now.... Like I said.. capital punishment is more humane.
3
Im not excusing the US behavior and decisions but they had no help. No help from the international community, or even most of the Afghans themselves. You can't rebuild a nation by yourself and the US should have recognized that much earlier.
3
Kurds deserve their own country. Kurdistan is the only sane place in that entire area.
3
Pol Pot Theres no such thing as bad publicity!!
2
@nubianprincess2771 Me too. I feel like a criminal when I buy it and I hate it.
2
@angiecarlton826 Are we really here to debate what drug is worse...?
2
That is one intelligent lady
2
@SklLLLY He was already in Pakistan by that point probably. Either way, if you want to start pointing fingers, the first one should be at saudi arabia anyway.
2
@SklLLLY What a tangled web our politicians weave I guess. :\
2
Wow what a difference between those two female COs!!
2
biggest war hawk in history
2
And not a single person paid any kind of punishment for doing all this. They got away with it all and will again.
2
So Iran and Saudi hate each other because of Sunni/Shia, yet countries like Syria (sunni) get along with Iran great? I dont get it... Middle east is beyond confusing and complex.
2
I'm a Republican but honestly I never disliked or was against Obama. I always found myself center-right and rejected anyone that was ideologically radical in either direction. I disagreed with him but the man tried to form a consensus. That's all I want from any candidate - the will to compromise, to form consensus. But the DC Swamp swallowed him up and took his energy, his soul, his passion. Wasn't the first and won't be the last. If there's one criticism I have of Obama it's that he seemed a bit tone-deaf especially in his second term. But I think at that point he had already become a shell of the man that was initially elected. He realized he couldn't get anything done of value because of the divide in congress and he finished that second term a bitter person.
2
Absolutely damning.

I wonder how the world would be different if America never installed the Shah, and/or the Iranian Revolution never happened. What would Iran and the entire Middle East look like today? Better? Worse? Edit - Im not sure if Javad Zarif is a 'good' man or not. But that guy is no ones fool, thats obvious to me.

@matthew-jy5jp I wish I could bro

Eritrea needs a second amendment.

Bankers. The root of all evil.

This is why I couldnt be a vet, even though I really wanted to as a kid. I realized that a lot of the job would be putting animals to sleep, dealing with grief stricken pet owners, tell them the surgery wasnt successful or whatever, etc. I just could not do that. I cant even imagine having that discussion with a human, about another human. Difficult...to say the least.
1
@Cutlerypotato It is a sickness, I agree. But you know what else is too? Assuming things about others. Ive voted Republican since Bush.
1
no one can top frontline
1
Its similar to Chernobyl in that the operators had advance knowledge of a problem and didn't do anything to solve it.
1
I just want to say I absolutely cannot stand john bolton.
1
The more the world changes, the more some things stay the same.
1
I had no idea.

All I can keep thinking over and over is "why does this matter to Americans? why are we there? how does this help promote and protect american lives?
1
@rudalibellator1739 I dont think any American will tell you the Iraq War was justified. I honestly think its as high as 95% + of Americans will tell you it was an awful and even illegal act. No ones defending us on that one... it is embarrassing for us.
1
Why didn't Mossad stop it? That's all I want to know....
1
The most ironic part about Trumps election is the very people that hated him (the media) are the ones that got him elected.

The trucks havent gotten worse, and neither have the truckers. The issue is the cars! The average people. THEY are what is dangerous, not the trucks. Had a CDL A for 10+ years. Have driven a semi for 7 of those. I really reject the idea that truckers and trucks are in any way responsible for this problem increasing. The problem is teenagers, people on their phones, going too fast, being distracted, all the things you typically hear. Thats whats getting worse. The side guards are a good idea and I dont see why anyone would have an issue with that. But that is not the main problem here.
