  5. I cried when my cat died. I got her when she was 2, and had her for 18 more years, from when I was 16 until 34. Like that cat lived through every moment of my life until that time. Luckily I was there when we put the cat down, it was so hard but I was thankful that I was the last thing the cat saw. I had promised the cat many times that no matter what, I would always take care of her and I would be the last thing she saw. She was my best friend. I don't know if you believe in this sort of thing, but in her last moments, I swear she gave me a look that said "thank you for everything". Great cat. In time though it heals -- the happy memories far outweigh the end. I was so lucky for it to live 20 happy years too. Cats and dogs are so amazing.

  6.  @cpnolto  It's not like that was his first choice. It was literally go there or be incarcerated for the rest of his life. He gave up EVERYTHING to whistleblow the news he did. Everything. What would you have done in his shoes? I say he's one of the bravest Americans of our generation. He didnt do it for himself, he lost everything and gained nothing. He did it for you and me. I really implore you to try and look at it with a new perspective.

  42. I lived in Beijing for two years. This guy is not joking when he says he was floored by the insanity of the wet markets. I certainly was. I'll never forget it the rest of my life, it was something out of a (horror) movie. Americans take agencies like the FDA for granted. There is no governmental oversight for food there, and they basically do whatever the hell they want.
