this is not an urban area in China, as you can see from the house styles and the availability of three-wheeled cargo scooters (not able to drive in urban roads in Chinese cities), it's in the countryside of Northern China, don't be surprised by the number of cars parking by the roadside, in rural China these days, all the roads are concrete-laid and car ownership is skyrocketing to the degree that if you don't buy a car, you have no "faces" in the villages because all your neighbours have cars.

@Hkchinese888 In rural China, people judge your family if you haven't owned a car yet these days, because families around you all have cars. Many Chinese farmers just bought cars and parked at their house gates without driving much a month due to the lack of needs to travel far often, as they say in the Chinese countryside, "you can park there and don't drive but you must have it!" People don't like to be judged by their neighbours, you know. You can call this mindset as shallow, superficial or materialistic but China is a country of capitalistic materialism, and as a man, young or old, if you haven't bought a house and a car in the cities, no girls will be interersted in you in the marriage market in China, and this "new marriage culture" has been around in China for at least 15 years now, it's not a latest phenomenon only. Sometimes you have to say China is too much of a capitalism, everything is valued by money and transactions. Communism is long dead. But materialism actually propels the Chinese economy forward as it stimulates domestic spending and consumption.

@Hkchinese888 watch this video "No Car No House (ENGLISH SUB) Chinese" ( or this video "No Car No House (english subtitles)" if you can't see English sub in the previously mentioned video) made by Chinese women 13 years ago, this pretty much summed up the mentality of the Chinese society and marriage requirements for men in China in the last 15 years. Communism is long dead, China has all the side effects of ultra Capitalism, like materialism, gold-digging....

I told you, "the house in the cities and at least one car " requirement for marriage in China is not a recent thing, it was already like this 15 years ago.

@Hkchinese888 OK,so China is very poor and shouldn't pose any threats to the super rich and powerful USA, the US is really overreacting too much, It should stop jumping so angrily at China everyday and drop all the draconian sanctions on Chinese tech companies and stop the tariff-brandishing trade war immediately.

@Hkchinese888 Look at South Asia, no single country is rich and educationally competitive, all are poor a f. Look at the PISA test performance and QS University Ranking, South Asia is not educationally capable. East Asia is exactly the opposite of South Asia. India has no gifts at all to become successful, don't waste time dreaming.
