  1. Japan? Japan has stagnated for 30 years, Japan's GDP today is even much lower than it was 30 years ago (Japan's GDP was 5.5 trillion USD in 1995 and 4.2 trillion USD in 2023, 😆). Japan missed the IT age in the 1990s-2010s, the solar age in 2010s and the AI and EV age in 2020s, its electronics, shipbuilding, machine tools and even automobile industries have already been overtaken by those of China. Its semiconductor industries have been overtaken by those of Taiwan, the Netherlands and South Korea. Even Germany has overtaken Japan in GDP nowadays and India is soon to do so in 1 or 2 years. lol.

Guizhou has long been the poorest province in China due to its unforgiving moutainous terrains and poor accessibility to other regions (there used to be a lack of bridges and many many suspension bridges between moutains were needed to be built) and it is inhabited by 40% ethnic minorities (like the Buyi, the Miao, the Shui, the Dong, the Yao, The Yi, the Tujia....) and 60% Han Chinese, there used to be an exggerated saying about Guizhou in China: "The land is not flat within 3 inches, the weather is not sunny within 3 days and the people has no 3 pennies in the pocket"(it's rhythmic in Chinese). I'm glad Guizhou has now transformed so much, even the rural villages are so clean now and full of cars, the cities like Guiyang (the capital) look very modern and cosmopolitan, it actually makes many Chinese people outside the region surprised because in our memories, Guizhou was very poor. It certainly has made a lot of progresses. Although it is still one of the poorest provinces in China, it's not that bad now.

  3. I'm from China, today China is perhaps one of the safest countries in the world but in the 1990s and early 2000s, petty crimes like pocketpicking and theft were quite rampant. Robberies by motorcyclists in dark places at night were also not uncommon. I can still remember that I could see the sign "Watch out for Pocketpickers!" in many places at that time. Felonies didn't occur often but some most high-profile serial murder cases in the PRC history occurred in the period of the 1990s-early 2000s. Then the Chinese economy has been on rocket mode after joining the WTO in 2001 and everybody was busy making money, the social safety improved significantly and by the late 2000s, pocketpicking became very rare. Today, China's crime rate is one of the lowest in the world.

  5. Guizhou is a highly moutainous province inhabited by many ethnic minorities like the Miao, the Buyi, the Shui, the Tujia.....etc. It is one of the least developed provinces in China but thanks to China's rapid growth, Guizhou is now also developing well.

  7. of course it's a reproduction of ancient palaces, Qin dynasty and Han dynasty were around 200 B.C., no Chinese buildings from that age survived to this day except the Great Wall which was initiated by the Qin dynasty.

It has long been the poorest province in China, there is a well-known saying in China about Guizhou: “No flat land within 3 inches, no sunny days within 3 days and nobody has 3 pennies”. Actually even as a Chinese person, it amazes me that Guizhou has become this modern and developed nowadays. Due to the troubled terrain, they have to use the precious flat lands to the maximum by building high-rise apartments in a compacted way. I agree it's not good but they need to have modern lifestyles in the moutain valleys too.

As a Chinese, I have to say this is just a rural village in China, not even a township, an average Chinese township (wich accomodates many villages) looks like a small city by international standard in the township seat and a county (which accomodates many townships) looks like a medium city by international standard in the county seat.

  17. you can see mostly elderly people and kids, as the young people have left to the cities for work. a lot of Chinese villages are disappearing as urbanization grows in China rapidly. In most of the villages that still exist, you can only find elderly people in normal times, only in the Chinese New Year, the young people came back to their hometowns.

  19. I'm from China and I'm surprised such places exist in today's China. It's like a time machine that takes me back to the Song dynasty in the 11th century China, because the Song-dynasty famous painting “ The Town Along the River During the Qingming Festival” showed Chinese village houses just like these in the videos, the wooden ones with black tiles. This seems to be a Miao ethnic minority moutain village, not Han Chinese village but they seem to maintain the Han Chinese village look from 1000 years ago. Interesting.

As someone from China, I have to say this is not a city but a small town and I have never heard of it, it is in the poorest province Guizhou that is basically all moutains and valleys with hardly any flat lands and inhabited by a lot of ethnic minorities (only 40% of the province's population are Han Chinese). I think it looks gorgeous considering it's a township in a poorest province of China that nobody knows even in China ourselves. Guizhou province used to be much more poorer-looking, now it looks good, even as a Chinese I'm surprised by the changes.

Action speaks louder than words! The US uses actions to speak a lot of words about what true China is! That's why the US is so mad and hysterical. lol.
