  1. why hasn't England fully assimilated Scotland yet to the degree that the Scottish lost their local identity and became as English as the Englishmen?

  2.  @thevis5465  Interestingly, they once conquered half of the world but was not able to fully assimilate Scotland and Ireland into them as you guys still have separate identity awareness. I think perhaps as time passes by, the Scottish identity may gradually wane off and the British identity will prevail in the future. The results of Scotland referendum in recent years could say about it.
