  1. The average aikiu of Chinese is 105 and that of Europeans is 100 and that of Indians is 85. Now you know why America and Europe are so mad at China but not at India, lol. When the ancient Egypt was around, the Chinese empire was there. When the ancient Greece and Rome were around, the Chinese empire was there. When the Ottoman empire was around, the Chinese empire was there. Now in the 21st century, China rose to the top again. But where are the Egyptians, Greek and Romans, Mongols and Ottomans? They were all gone. The Chinese civilization experienced ups and downs but it has incredible resiliences and always came to the top, if given level-playing grounds. Sometimes you have to acknowledge the aikiu is a critical factor for determining the prosperity of a nation, even though it may not be politically correct to say so.

  2. China was sleeping throughout the 19th century and most of the 20th century when the Industrial Revolution and Post-WWII Great Boom and Prosperity were occurring in other parts of the world. China missed all the major golden eras. However, China finally started to industrialize since the 1980s after it reformed and re-embraced capitalism. It used only 40 years to have caught up with the West, which started industrialization 200 years earlier! This is a miracle in the history of human development in terms of scale and speed!

I am from China myself, of course I knew the Century of Humiliation, which is a phrase coined by Chinese intellectuals ourselves for concluding the period from 1840s to 1940s, this part of shameful history has always been repeatedly taught over and over again in Chinese textbooks from primary school to middle school to the university to evoke maximum levels of patriotism and nationalism in China. How can I not know? Even the textbook of Mao Zedong Thought, which is still a mandatory philosophy class in the university for all majors, started from the chapter of the Century of Humiliation and proceeded to teach us how the founding of the PRC changed everything by building a brand new China. Even though China was weak at that time, China was still capable of resisting the encroachment of all the industrialized powers and avoiding being fully colonized. Other parts of the world were not so lucky, they were brutally colonized by the industrialized powers for varying periods of time and had to shed so much blood to fight for independence and liberation, freeing themselves from the subjagation by the industrialized powers. At least we were never a colony of the West. If China hadn't walked so many wrong paths in the 19th and 20th century, we would have been industrialized and become a superpower long time ago, we wouldn't need to wait to the 21st century to do so. The history of the world in the 20th century would have been totally different. Given the level-playing enviornment, the West can't outcompete China and America knows this well, that's why they are so mad and hysterical and ban this and that out of no other options. lol.

  4. @ China was indeed sleeping at those time because the Industrial Revolution started in England in the late 18th century and spread to Belgium then to the rest of West Europe and then America in early 19th century. Japan and Russia started to learn the industrial know-how from West Europe since the 1860s and achieved industrialization by the early 20th century. But China was too proud and complacent at that time, refusing to learn from the foreign "barbarians" and therefore being left behind fast. In the 20th century, the Qing dyansty collapsed, China was caught in constant civil wars between regional warlords. Then invaded by Japan for 14 years and the civil war temporarily paused. After Japan surrendered, the civil wars immediately resumed again between the Communists and Nationalists. Then China was trapped in Communism for 30 years. Thanks to Deng Xiaoping, China re-embraced capitalism in 1980 and started fast industrialization to this day. If China had started industrialization in the early 20th century immediately after the Qing dynasty was over, it would have become a superpower by the mid-20th century already, no need to wait to today. Do you understand? Napoleon said "China is a sleeping giant, let her sleep, because once she woke up, the world would tremble." What's wrong with the word "sleep"?

  5. @ China was invaded by all the then-industrialized powers at that time but was not conquered and colonized, unlike India, who was colonized by Britain for 200 years. China was never a colony of the West. China sees the invasions by the then-industrialized nations as humiliations, but India didn't seem to care about being colonized, Two Centuries of Foreign Rule is absolutely worse than one century of foreign invasions.

  6. As far as I know, the UK didn't want to ban Huawei but the US sent large delegate teams to London shouting and yelling at the faces of their UK counterparts for 5 HOURS in the closed-door conferences, forcing the latter to ditch Huawei. The UK compromised and banned Huawei.
