  1. You always underestimated the will of the Chinese people, that's why the ROC lost the civil war to the PRC 76 years ago when the ROC actually had lots of weaponry advantages backed by the US. The Chinese people wants to reunifiy Taiwan at all costs. It's like how the Cao Wei regime reuinified Shu Han regime and Dong Wu regime in the Three Kingdom despite them being separate states in the 200 A.D., how the Northern dynasty reunified the Southern dynasty 300 years later in the 500 A.D. despite them being separate states and all the other reunifications China saw in her rich history (Chinese history pattern can be concluded with "the empire long united must divide and the empire long divided must unite") . In the cultural psyche of the Chinese people no matter they were ancient Chinese or modern Chinese, they have always had this strong and unyielding will to reunify all of China into a single nation and they won't stop until such a goal is achieved. Taiwan is sure to be reunified with mainland China sooner or later, this breakaway situation can't be left forever to the future generations to handle.

  2. 76 years ago, Chiang Kai Shek's men, with the ample supplies of American weaponry still couldn't win the civil war against Mao Zedong's men who were mostly peasants and didn't have the luxury of accessing to the then advanced ammunitions. The ROC regime was simply too incompetent and weak. A few years ago, Taiwan's military officer launched a so-called homegrown missle "Xiong San" BY ACCIDENT towards China and was scared with wet pants, the missle hit a fishery boat and killed a Taiwanese fisherman in the Taiwan Strait, avoiding an escalation of war between the two sides. Such low-level mistakes could only be made by incompetent countries/regions like India and Taiwan. Similar incidents occurred in the Indian military as well. lol.

That was simply because the common Chinese people preferred the PRC to the incompetent ROC. The Chinese people wants to reunifiy Taiwan at all costs.
