In the simplist of terms your talking about direct to the people VS state electorates. Exit polls from 2016 showed that 60% of Voters have an unfavorable view of trump, worst numbers of any nominee for his respective party since pulling began. His unfavorability was also shown in the midterm elections, which is shown by Michael McDonald of the u.s. election project, asserting that in 2018 5 50.1% was the highest of any midterm since 1914. It is also well known as the Blue Wave. In this year's Network exit polls, 45% approved of the job Trump is doing, while 54% disapproved. The strongly approve number was 31%. The before midterm election poll said that 31% of registered voters and 33% of likely voters strongly approved. .. And that's just the one from Fox News. So his buddies over at Fox News even put him low in those numbers.

  33.  Janet Masiello  - his billionaire status has never been confirmed - during the campaign he claimed that everybody would be able to stay on their Medicaid and he has actively lobbied against that in several different ways. - he continues to lie to this day and now fights in court to not release his tax returns even though he promised during the campaign that he would on several different occasions - he said he would promote one trillion dollar infrastructure bill and he just recently tried to Blackmail the Democrats into not investigating his possible crimes anymore by saying that he will not do an infrastructure bill of any kind until they stopped. And pulled that little walk out and talk to the Press stunts to do it - he claimed he would drain the swamp, which apparently meant to him that he would drain it of most of the old guys and put an even worse guys I could go on

As of March 5th 2019 Forbes has him at 3.1 billion and Bloomberg estimated his wealth at 2.8 billion. - Trump himself has often stated higher values for his wealth than organizations estimating it. Keyword being estimating. - as a result on May 20th 2019 ruling, Trump must disclose tax records which would describe his well. He was also denied a stay to delay the ruling pending a potential appeal. In other words, he's fighting to not have his actual wealth be known. Which doesn't look good. Wouldn't you agree?
