Israel is the only country which has had to return territory won in a defensive war. And it offered even more for peace.   16. Jews have lived there for 3000 years. We are the oldest continuous ethnic group except for the Chinese. Our entire culture language, rituals, holidays, etc, revolve around Israel. Our prayer books say Israel or Zion in every other sentence. if you took anything related to Israel out of our scriptures you'd have confetti. This is the only place in the world where our language Hebrew was the native l;anguage. So this isn't about where we started. it's about continuous habitation which creates a culture based on a place. the same as any other indigenous tribe. There simply isn't another people with that history in that land. Yes there are other people of all faiths and ethnic groups who are Israeli citizens. But we govern it. why does that bother you so much? Does it bother you that the Irish rule Ireland? I am all for other indigenes getting their land back. The Basques, Catalans, Bretons, Kurds, Druze, Berbers, Copts, Tibetans, Uigurs, and everyone else should get it. The Irish already did. Some American native tribes have - their reservations are autonomous states to some extent.

  21.  @bjh288  Jesus, a Jew, was born in Bethlehem, in Judea, the nation of the Jews, 200 years before a Roman emperor renamed it "Palestine". (Beit-lechem means "house of bread" in Hebrew. Does it have a meaning in Arabic?) So actually it's an ancient Jewish town occupied by Arabs since 630 AD.

  26. Lots of tribal warfare in the bronze and iron ages. Israel/Judea was conquered by the Assyrians, Babylonians, Greeks, Romans .... everyone came through. However we survived as a cohesive ethnic group each time. Most others did not. This has been true all over the world. If you find any remaining members of those tribes from even 2500 years ago, let us know.
