  1. Since they said you could put sugar in it, I bet they used sugar when they were making it with more astringent or sour berries. I would definitely put dried fruit in it, not only for taste but also to add some vitamin C. Also you need the fat for energy, especially in cold weather, so a Canadian or Arctic explorer might want more rather than less fat.
