@therrydicule "you can't just terminate gerrymandering if your elections are all based on geographic riding and district": You're making this unnecessarily complicated. Just implement popular vote (1 person = 1 vote). Gerrymandering isn't even a thing in most (western) countries other than the US and - according to you - Canada. Why hold on to such a silly, outdated, discriminatory system?

"the termination of lobbying and gerrymandering": All you need is to switch from the electoral college to popular vote. Gerrymandering would be completely pointless then. Getting rid of lobbying is much harder, unfortunately. The US has citizens united, which you would have to get rid of, but even then lobbying remains a problem. European countries don't have such a ruling, but lobbying still happens.

@JohnBrown-pq9tj "Vote them out then.": Again, John. You can't! Nowadays there is no way in any western country of "voting somebody out" as you call it. All any voter can do is vote somebody else in, which is still very problematic, because the capitalists in power alone decide who we the people as voters get to choose from and that isn't a choice to begin with.

@MaiTai16 "Hi from Australia. Make voting mandatory.": Exactly. 1st make voting day a national holiday (or in the case of the US maybe 2 days, since there are so many people and republicans have been restricting access to certain demographics) and 2nd those who don't vote should be fined (some amount of $ according to income, so that poor people don't get punished severely whereas rich people don't even notice the fines).

@Cigmaster2988 "Checks and balances are extremely important for maintaining democracy.": Lmao, those are just platitudes. If that had ever worked we wouldn't be in this geriatric, oligarchal, capitalist mess in the first place.

@bradjohnson4787 "Money parity will help!": What do you mean? How will that solve this issue of corruption.

@JayBee-cr8jm "Trump sure loved Term limits in 2016.": Trump used to like a lot of things, like holding people accountable, unless he needs to play by his own rules. Then he conveniently forgets about his principles.

@JohnBrown-pq9tj "Don't like your rep? Think he's been in office too long? Vote him out.": @John: Thank you for proving what is obvious to all progressives and leftists. People like you are too uninformed / miseducated to even understand how voting works. There is no way to vote out a politician who isn't for any reason (physically, mentally, ...) capable anymore to do their job. Even back in the days of the Roman Empire there were ways (like ostracism) to get rid of corrupt and or old politicians, who shouldn't have been in power. There is currently no such thing in the entire west, which is why there is so much corruption (= capitalism), nepotism, and so many other problems going on.
