Throughout the pandemic, I shot my A2 carbine with a brownells retro scope on the top. I recently got back into my sopmod and I got to say it felt.... heavy. Very heavy. Also, I'm a bit surprised that I can shoot better because with my a2 I would put my nose on the charging handle and practiced that way. With the magnified optic I can shoot much better. So personally I think everyone should practice with their A2. While you might not think you're "learning" anything, just try it out for a few months and you'll be very surprised going back to whatever you had before.
